Inspired by the story I'm working on about fashion being art, I thought it'd be cool to know who likes which artists (dead or alive). I'm really into Manet and Hopper for the dead ones but right now I'm loving Scott Debus who recently moved to Charelston from New York. His are the paintings featured in my latest shoot.

I also love the work of Edouard Manet. Amongst my favourites you'll find Bar at the Folies-Bergere, and La Musique aux Tuileries.

I also love some of the works by Claude Monet, particularly those focused on the flaneur, such as Boulevard des Capucines.

Too many to list I think, there are so many fantastic movements and eras that are so different from eachother yet so brilliant in their own ways. I can start by saying I'm not very into the very abstract, post-modern type stuff. Just having a look at Debus, some of his stuff is too random for me, but I do love the faces and figures. Looking forward to seeing the fashion as art shoot! :)

I'm also a fan of impressionism, particularly the paintings they showed daily life at the time - street cafes, picnics, arcades, people flaneuring the streets... Manet was great at these, I love the Music at the Tuileries.
I remember being suprised to find that Manet also did a set of illustrations for The Raven - such a different subject matter and style.

Degas and Renoir did some pretty stuff as well. Renoir's Luncheon:

Some more (in no particular order):

Alphonse Mucha for Art Nouveau- one of the best things about Prague is the devotion to him and the Art Nouveau influence on the city.

Gustave Dore and Aubrey Beardsley for illustrations. Very dark but very detailed.

Dante Gabrielle Rosetti and John William Waterhouse from the Pre-Raphaelites:

Rodin for sculpture: I didn't think too much of Rodin until I actually saw an exhibition of his sculptures in person, they were beautiful. One that stood out to me was the Hand of the Pianist -

The photos are posted here but not all will run and a new one was decided on today. I'll make sure to post them tomorrow when I can download them off the system at work.

Of course, I had looked at them but for some reason didn't recognise the painting! Very slow sometimes... :P

Have to agree with Mahima also, Toulouse Lautrec was another great one, he captured Paris so well.
