The sun is reporting both Shia LeBouf and Eddie Murphy are in the next Batman movie which so far has the working title Gotham;

The Beverly Hills Cop star, 47, has been signed up by British director CHRISTOPHER NOLAN to reprise the role played by JIM CARREY in 1995s Batman Forever.

The surprise move follows speculation linking Pirates of the Caribbean star JOHNNY DEPP to the part.

The film, set for a 2010 release, is being developed under the working title Gotham.

Execs have also signed up rising Transformers star SHIA LABEOUF, 22, to play Robin.

CHRISTIAN BALE will return as Bruce Wayne, while MICHAEL CAINE will again play Bruces assistant Alfred.

Meanwhile, Brit RACHEL WEISZ is said to be up for the Catwoman role.

Insiders also revealed to The Sun the flick will end on a cliffhanger over whether Batman survives a blast at Wayne Towers.

Nolan had been tight-lipped about the future of the Batman films after being rocked by the January death of HEATH LEDGER tipped to receive a posthumous Oscar for his role as The Joker in Batman Returns.

A film insider said: Chris wasnt sure if he wanted to do another movie but as soon as he decided to, he got the wheels in motion.

Eddies a fantastic addition. Everyones excited to see what he does as the Riddler.

Shia I could believe, he totally destroyed Indian Jones as the side kick so it could happen but Eddie Murphy... please.

Grain of salt, I has it.

Aww man i hope it is going to be Johnny as the Riddler i think he'd be better. Though Eddie Murphy probably wouldn't be that bad.
I was hoping Robin wouldn't come into it yet :/

I don't think a role reprisal of the Joker will happen given that the next person will have even bigger shoes to fill. First it was Jack Nicholson, now Heath Ledger....if indeed that's the cast list, then Catwoman would be interesting but the rest of them would be pretty bad.

Ok, the geek in me comes out. None of the comic forums I post on has picked this up as a legit story; especially since Nolan is yet to commit to a 3rd film and he also said he would not be bringing robin into this telling. Nolan aimed for (as much as could be done) a reality based world. Which is a shame because I really wanted to see Ra's back with a Lazarus pit and a smoking hot daughter.

Nolan hasn't signed no, but these rumours are utter rubbish. With the quality that Christian Bale is pursuing the names currently being touted haven't got a chance in hell of making it into the film.

Dane Cook wants to play the Riddler

Just yesterday we revealed the results of last week's "Batman 3" poll, in which readers named The Riddler the villain they'd most like to see in the next installment of the Batman movie franchise. Now comes word from actor/comedian Dane Cook that Batman's question-marked nemesis is exactly the comic book character he'd like to play, given the chance.

"I love the new Dark Knight series and 'Batman Begins,'" Cook told MTV News when asked if there were any comic book movie characters he has his eye on. "If they brought back The Riddlera new Riddler the way they did with The Jokerthat would be bad-ass. I would do that."

Let me be the first to say haha, no.

Given they're writing the film now, is it too much to ask for some real news?

Michael Caine doesn't sound that enthusiastic about the future of the Batman franchise.

In an interview with British magazine Shortlist, the actor -- who played Butler Alfred in Batman Begins and The Dark Knight -- said: "As for the future... if they ever make another Batman I will be in, I will be the butler..."

He went on: "But I don't know if they are ever going to make another Batman. If they do it won't be for quite a while."
