My closet is a mess and I am looking to redo my wardrobe, again and wondering what brands are the best or should I have the best quality of classic items like a Black Slimming Pantsuit, Crisp White Shirt, Black Pencil, Black Turtlenecks, Cashmere Sweaters, Jeans, etc. Also, I would like to get a more modern of version of these Classic Items. I'm unable to afford to high-end brands, what mid-end brands do you recommend for purchasing classic items. Also, where I live, there is no Club Monaco, ZARA or H&M and I really hate that.

Hi Crystal!
Have you thought about buying Online or from fashion catalogs?
Maybe share your dilema with female colleagues too and prepare a trip together into a major city near you.Fingers crossed!
Update.
Oops I just noticed a post of yours I think showing some of your online buys.Maybe there's a good tailor near you for made to measure orders.

Thanks, and yes I believe there is a good tailor in Baton Rouge that my mother goes to.
I think the closest cities to where we have H&M, CM and ZARA are Houston and Atlanta, sigh!
I just wish you can purchase items online fron ZARA, Club Monaco, and H&M in the US. Do they have catalogs or no? I wonder if you can call one of their stores if there's a particular item that you like and see if they can ship it to you.

Zara has gone Online in some countries.Check out their US sites.I don't know what the catalog situation is like in the USA but I think there are catalogs called Speigel,Sears and Roebuck.Catalogs have come a long since sportswear &Grandma's hostess kaftans. They are quite up to date these days.
As for that black slimming pantsuit why not get it done at your Mom's tailor in Baton Rouge. You'll be assured of the cut and fit and as you want it classic it can't go wrong. It may be a lil bit pricey but it would last for many years.Good luck!

I wish Zara would get with the 21st Century and ship worldwide from their online stores, or at least to the countries where they have no licensing presence.

Yes indeed, they don't realize how much profit they would make if they would do that.

I live in New Orleans so I feel your pain about not having certain stores near us.! There's always places like Banana Republic and I think you can find some classic peices in BCBG. There's also New York and Company (one store) and Cache. Since you live near Baton Rouge you should go to the Mall of Louisiana. Set your mind on classic peices and dont get distracted by anything else. I'm sure you'll find something.!!!!
While I'm here, do you know of any New Orleans or around that area based designers. I need an internship. Not only just designers but stylists or anything fashion related.!
Please & Thank You.!

I love New Orleans(GEAUX SAINTS!!!)
Thanks for great advice. That's a problem I have, I have list of what I need which is made up of mostly classic items but when I shop, I purchase the most trendy styles because they are so cute or they fit me really well.
As for as New Orleans based designers, I think there are some boutiques around Magazine Street that you go can go to and ask. Also, go to Canal Street and try Saks. I ask if there are any stylists or buyer positions available or ask Saks if they know of any New Orleans fashion designers.
