continuing my thoughts on some places visited..... non- uk.. USA/Canada this time..

Canada- Ottawa a bit bland, Montreal lively, helps if you speak French though it's not like in France!!. Quebec very pretty and quaint. Toronto- WOW a happening place, lots going on and wonderfully multicultural. Vancouver I hear is great but it's one place I still have to get to. Niagara Falls spectacular but the town is a bit tacky. The Butterfly reserve is well worth a visit.

USA- deep breath----

NYC a must place, Manhattan is THE area and mainly south of Central Park from say 60th down to 20 is where it happens during the day and 60th to 10 or lower at night. My work base when over there is in that sector on the east side as are many others:) Don't expect to fall over modelling agencies, some of the major ones are tucked away in nondescript buildings. NYC is an amazing place to mix, soak up conversations and parties and happenings. It also does my head in as I love open spaces and crave to see the sky. If it wasn't for the Park, I and others would explode. I couldn't live there. Personally I also don't rate the shops either and Times Square is overrated. If you have never been though GO!! Go to Tiffany's and look at the jewellery then walk in the entrance of Trump Tower. One can walk all the way from 60th and 5th down to 20th, across and up to 42st Time Sq area easily, dont bother with the subway on a fine day. NYC can be freezing, can be very wet and can be very hot!.

Boston- a prettier more spaced out old feel place but a great atmosphere with Havard and other unis around, lots of boats and many activities. The Logan ferry will give you a good tour and sight of the city from the boat:) Cape Cod- its OK dont expect wonders.

Upstate NY- go to Ithaca a lovely small student town near Finger Lakes and walk around beautiful Cornell Uni.

New England- sorry but if you have seen England or Oregon, then it will disappoint.

Oregon- simply amazing, the biggest trees and a place for peace and beautiful nature. Seattle, a lovely city.

San Fran- it's the people I love there as well as the whole city and the cable car madness. Dont drive there if you cant do hill starts. SF can be really cold and misty when inland it is scorching. From SF visit Lake Tahoe- stunning and also look across the state line from little huts to towering casinos.

The coast road from SF to LA is stunning and do it that way or you will be on the wrong side to see the view if you go LA-SF.

I dont like LA. I adore Santa Barbara for luxury and Santa Monica for life though. If you ever arrive at LAX and have time to kill, get a cab to Venice (about 25mins) and walk the walk up to San Mon and have cocktails on the Pier. If you can, walk in the town late at night when it's all happening:) The beaches are lovely with super fine sand but the sea is COLD!

San Diego- not a fan. Palm Springs is bizarre- count how many wind generators and ppl over 60 you can see lol

Las Vegas -is brilliant. Some parts are tack yes but some are really really classy. It is a must place to visit.

Grand Canyon. I thought it would look good but my breath was taken away. It is stunning. One of these places that pictures just cannot convey.

Sedona- beautiful organge rocks and whacky shops full of crystals and mystic thoughts

more next time.....

continuing on to the pacific...

NZ-
North
Aukland happening place with clubs till dawn.
Bay of islands lovely
Rotoura- smelly but has to be seen
gems of empty beaches if you seek them out

South
Christchurch a bit boring
Greymouth- grey
Fox and and Franz Joseph Glaciers- amazing!!! but sad to see how far they are disappearing- look at the signs on the road to the car park :(
Mount Cooke- a must is take a plane over them
Wanaka-beautiful
Te Anuau- gorgeuos
All of that area is quite simply breathtaking, purple lupins, snow, blue still lakes.
Milford Sound- a mini Norway

Spend all of time you can in the south of South Island. easy backpacking with Atomic Shuttles between hostels if roughing it.
