Yep, they are everywhere. Some advice I've received has been very helpful.
The main things to look for are:
* Bad use of the English language, bad spelling and grammar.
* Links to websites that are completly unrelated, unprofessional looking or not there.
* Asking for an 'administrative fee'
* Asking to see you a deposit cheque. (What they do here is send you a cheque, then say, 'oh whoops, that was too much, can you EFT some of it back', you do so then they cancel the cheque they sent you before is has cleared.
* Wanting to book you for a job 'that big' without even talking to you on the phone, meeting you or checking your references.
Most importantly, if is sounds too good to be true. It is.
Sometimes it's fun to play with them for a while and waste their time. It's always amusing to see their response to 'So, there must be tonnes of professional runway models in London right? Why is it that you are interested in paying thousands of dollars to fly a 5'6' Aussie girl over for this event? =D Generally I just hit the delete button straight away though.
