Im very much against all these celebrities doing diffusion lines. Do I suddenly get up in the morning and say that I am going to start a singing career, with the horrible voice that I have? Thats what these girls do when they show the world how horrible their fashion ranges are. Money is the most corrosive aspect of life today because it means that all attention to detail is forgotten. Kate Mosss collection was badly made, stupid and bland; you see things like that everywhere. You cant just buy things for the label - its ridiculous

Now that would be an interesting celebrity death match.

You know what though; in many ways I completly agree and I am not suprised at all that some of the 'real' designers are getting pissed off with all of the diffusion lines.

Ah, but his tirade didn't end there:

Roberto Cavalli on Madonna... "She is not nice with anyone: she doesn't know how to be nice."

On Victoria Beckham... "Sadly, now that she's in LA, it's difficult to see one another. We talk all the time on the phone, though. She is such a fantastic woman."

On the way women dress today... "There is a real vulgarity in the way women dress at the moment. They show off too much and try too hard. They don't understand where the line is between sexy and vulgar. I know where that line is."

On rumours that he is gay... "I am not gay. I detest men - dressed or naked - but women..."

On English style... "The English - oh my God. I shouldn't say this because I live part of the time in London, but they are on a par with the Swiss stylistically."

On his own achievements... "In 1970 I was the number one designer in the world; people like Armani were nothing next to me."

Clearly a modest and sensible man, who practices what he preaches;

And whose designs clearly aren't vulgar;

And of course, no one bought his diffusion line because it had his name on it. They bought it for the quality that 'Made In China' provides.

A bitter old italian. Are we suprised? I like his clothes and truth is he has done many costumes for concert tours, britney, spice girls, madonaa, kylie. I see his point. But truth is of course its going to be cheap quality when u slap an 8 pound price tag on it. You cant expect quality that matches ur own 2000 euro a metre material. Does anyone remember when danni minogue did a range for target back in the early 90s or was it late 80s? i remember my sister having a pokadot piece. I ached for the playboy bunnies, i do think it looks highly slutty but as he said in an interview on the show they needed to be updated. The old playboy bunnies are fabulously beautiful, a tad classy and even kitsch. They used to have themes, stewardess, army, sailor. now its all about tits and ass, and thats what men want. I dont think its Roberto's greatest achievement to date. But who wouldnt jump at the chance of dressing peroxided blond, faxed tan, big boobed airheads. Look at what pamela did for red bathing suits. and now im babling. Oi.

Lol, Toot you could babble all day we'd still all read it with interest. ;) I can see his point about celebrities but Daniel is right - he's done his own 'cheap' lines for the masses so how different is that from Kate Moss' line for Topshop?
