I've managed to overlook the existence of it, and can't even find a trailer that's in English.

I looked it up online as well, but no trailers in english. The movie is directed by Jan Kounen and talks about the affair the composer shared with Chanel.. I watched a couple of interviews on tv about a month ago and it honestly looks interesting, i ll keep looking for a subtitled trailer :)

Looks cool. I wonder how Stravinsky will be portrayed, though I am probably more interested in the upcoming Nehru/Lady Mountbatten romance.

Russians are strongly attracted [ almost drugged like passions ] to anything really artistic, fashions related, education, and very very strong women. Those women who were struggling in the rural agricultual lands to feed mother Russia under the worst government in modern time people appreciate the value of arts, particularly music, and something as simple yet in a very Sexy Black Dress. There were many Soviet Jews fleeing the ill-fated USSR during the 70 and 80s who gave vivid testimonies about the alure of culture and youth values about the Russian nature [ Russuan youth knew and loved Marilyn Monroe, Elvis, Mic Jagger and the Bettles for example].

Once an Artist like Igor ran accross CoCo there was no hesitation for his attraction to her was already part of him before setting his eyes on her lovely beauty. CoCo attraction was universal even 20 - 30s Sex Movie Goddess Mae West here in America was aware of her hold on American leading movie actors of ther time and place IE. Clark Gable, Tyrone Powere, Gary Grant [ IE...in Bedroom converstations ] and Fred Ataire.

CoCo was a woman who knew that she was alive and wasn't interested in
the limitations of formalities, and when she saw a man who had power, strenght, whether political, military, cultural, or relgious, she did not hesitiate in trying to get into his picture - though during the Nazi occupation of Paris this got her into trouble with France itself.

There is and always will be a strong connection between her life and the sociocultural expections of the philosophy of Ayn Rand as CoCo actual lived out Rand's philosophy before she published it. Total living, and Igor had nothing but a single storm of passions to fullfil life itself and in the arms of many women who he could consider as his Catherine the Great [ which existed within every Russian artists psyche of the times. ].

Passions are liberating when the underlinning expectation is not only part the cultural motif in which they emerge, but more important the sexual culture which its sets in motion. Neither cared about sociocultural expectations of the times in which they lived, but where caught upon a magnificent wind within their own leaderhsip passsions to live life to its fullests was the single value of their co-joined human discovery.

For what we are witnessed to in both text and in the movie itself is the real value of PASSION.

The movie opened in France last week to a lukewarm reception.

Coco was devastated at the loss of her lover and grand confidant Boy Capel. She meets up with Igor Stravinsky,a refugie from the Russian Revolution and the encounter is electrifying.Coco offers to house Igor, his wife and children in her country manoir in Garches for him to concentrate on his work.Igor settles in and secretly begins a passionate liason with Coco.
If you're expecting a lot of fabulous fashion and lacy defilés you'll be disappointed. Its a love story with superb dialogue and performances from Anna Mouglalis(who really sounds like she smokes 3 packs of cigarettes a day as did Coco)and a wonderful Natacha Lindinger who I happen to know. She plays Misia Sert who was a Parisian socialite, pianist, stunning beauty and seductive 'it' girl at the time.
Jan Kounen succeeds in giving us a sensitive, charnelle and correct film about 2 legends meeting up for a fiery love affair that was to change their lives forever.Yes correct, elegant and passionate seem appropriate terms for this film.

Thank you Little Chris for the wonderful synopsis above.
