Bodymetrics, a company which uses laser scanning technology to create the ultimate bespoke clothing. How it works is, you stand in the Bodymetrics Pod, where a laser takes hundreds of measurements of your body in just 5 seconds. The body scan, which accurately represents every contour of your body, is then used as a model to create perfect-fitting garments.

Not surprisingly, Bodymetrics puts particular emphasis on jeans - denim is a multi-million-dollar industry, and the hunt for the perfect jeans can drive anyone crazy. The company has teamed up with several premium denim designers to develop capsule collections of made-to-order bespoke jeans. Alternately, customers have the opportunity to create their own unique design, which is then fit to the exact measurements taken by the Pod scanner. The resulting pair of jeans is the ultimate in personalization: designed by you, tailor-made to every nuance of your body.

Were also thinking about the broader implications this may have on the fashion industry in general: Will this change the way designers fundamentally approach tailoring and design in the near future?

Bodymetrics currently is available at Selfridges and Harrods in London.

Genius idea, and apparently the pricing is comparable to some of the high end denim jeans which are off the rack!

Since I've just come back from shopping for my upcoming beachy holiday - i think this technology would also be very handy for swinwear where, like jeans, the position of every centimeter of fabric counts.

Would love to try out that machine!
