A 20 year old girl died at Good Vibes in Sydney on the weekend, I heard on the radio that police are warning party goers to avoid anything that looks like a red mitsubishy. Apparently its not ecstacy but PMA, and it has killed 6 people since 1995.
Condolances to her family...very sad

ye definately, it is really sad when things like this happen, i don't think people are aware of what actually goes into some of these party drugs, especially if you are getting it form someone you don't know

Of course, if you touch any of the stuff you have to accept the risk. It's one thing to say you didn't know what was in it, but the fact that it produces a result by altering the way your brain operates pretty much should indicate these things aren't always pleasant.
But of course, if you're willing to take the risk then good luck to you :)

hows this- if you dont want to die, dont put strange pills made in backyard labs into your mouth. Sad she died but hello? she took the pill!!

its not that black and white ruru.. i mean she probably saw many of her friends taking it frequently or just evry now and then with no consequences (immediate ones anyway) and therefore she thought she would be fine... this was a rare case.. and it really is a shame.. people are still going to take it but as i said if you do, you should make sure (to the best of your ability) that it is safe eg checking the picture on it, doing some prior research etc.. though thats hard when your at a club but hmm..

It's not such a rare case though, it does happen enough for us to be aware of it and people can no longer plead ignorance. Regardless of peer pressure, when it comes down to you if you pop a pill you know that one of the side effects can be to wind up dead.

kaz- it is pretty blackand white. i'm sure she went to highschool and did the whole "drugs are bad" bit where they tell you you could die. Unless she was hiding under a rock she would realise the possibility of dying. I mean- yes a lot of people take them and her friends may hvae been but when you put the pill in your mouth you are taking responsibility for it. Unless somebodyhas a gun to your head- its your fault. its not hard when you are at a club or anywhere else- trust me, i don't drink (out of choice- and have taken the happy pills too) and if somebody can do that i'm sure its easier to not take drugs than it is to take them.

Try hugs not drugs.
Gee, who came up with these concepts!? If they want to eliminate this happening then they have to make it socially unacceptable. Like smoking or drink driving.
Its up to the individual but I do understand where Kaz is coming from. My mother has always said that 'it is not the company you keep, it is the company you keep in your own head'. If u are not strong enough to know wot is & wot is not good for you, then you will be persauded. The sad bit is the older people who pray on the younger, less informed.

ruru.. the drug education in schools is stupid.. yes they say you can die, but usually they say the very far away consequences from constant drug abuse eg hole in your brain etc. if someone decides to pop on the weekend they do not consider themselves a regular drug user, same with someone trying it for the first time, it is only natural to think that it will never happen to them, especially if their friends have no side effects.... curiosity is natural, and therefore its ignorant to say that ohh it was that girls fault coz she knew the consequences.. in school we are not told that 1 pill could kill you.. they focus on constant drug abuse
SoHo i agree drug education should be focused on making drugs socially unacceptable, taking out all the glamour from it and have a heavy emphasis on what could happen to you immediately
eg to eliminate smoking amongst youth, have a commercial with a group of your average "popular" guys and a pretty girl walks upto them, have the guys be like eww you smell, your teeth are a bit yellow etc. this makes smoking seem ugly, and im sure it will stop many young people from starting.
if you just scrolled down to the bottom of my message to see my point... focus on drug education which gives immediate consequences rather then long term and people will think twice before following curiosity
