Can anyone tell me what the fit is like on Dior Homme pieces? Obviously slim, but is it fairly true to the sizing guide (38" jackets are 38", 32" waists are 32" and so on).
Suiting definitely runs true to size. A size 48 suit measures exactly 48cm across the chest. Suit pants in 48 measure exactly 32". Often, people will size up from their usual suiting size, but if you're confident, I would suggest going with your measured size. It'll fit better across the shoulders and through the thigh.
With the jeans, buy them according to your waist, not your hips. They're vanity sized 1-2".
The difference in the cut (17cm, 19cm, 21cm) isn't just the hem width, it's the whole way through from the thigh. 21cm is a classic straight leg, 19cm is a moderate taper and 17cm is an extreme taper. Of course, unless you size down dramatically, they won't actually fit super-tight. They do stretch as well, after a month, the size 30 pair that started out 32" across fits comfortably over my hips, which easy measure 34".
There is the occasional model that fits tighter than others. I've had 30's I couldn't fit into, and I've got 29's that I wear regularly. Older season and special runway models tend to be more aggressively sized.
If you've got any specific questions for a particular item, I may be able to help more.
Amazing response, thanks James! Called me biased, but that's the kind of thing I build Fashionising for! Nope, no brilliant finds at any sale -- just keeping my eye out on some of the online sales :)
