Has anyone managed an upgrade to first class from coach (for those of you who fly coach) simply by flirting your way there? Nothing dirty of course, just simple no-harm flirting.

I manage business class from the US to Europe by simply complimenting the BA employee's scarf (which of course was part of the outfit).
Also managed first class from the UK to the US...it involved flirting but it was mostly because of my broken tray table.

I've managed economy to business between Melbourne and London before now, that was also a BA flight.

I'm sitting in the Atlanta, Ga. airport right now waiting for my flight to London trying to come up with a good strategy to get bumped.

I came up with nothing and ended up next to this really interesting Italian chap who was in the U.S. on a foreign exhange and was going home because the son of his host family yanked a gun on him...yikes.
So as for getting bumped I've decided "Delta is Bitches".
We'll see when I fly home on Sunday.

Well one time I and my friend were late checking in to a really full flight and they didn't have any seats together so we got bumped up. I'm really small and pitiful looking so maybe that's why? Another time the lady just asked if we wanted to get bumped up and of course we said yes, but she told us we had to put on long pants and closed shoes (religious/culture reasons).

I've heard the best way is just to ask politely?

Out of interest, which country were you in where you were asked to change clothing?
