i have my formal in may, as i am younger then you guys lets make this a discussion about your formal or prom experiences rather then upcoming ones! did you guys have fun? have the limo? what did you girls wear? feel free to post pictures.. i am in need of a hot dress and i wouldnt mind a hot date either :)

my formal was in 2002 :( 5 years ago. your making me feel old! i wore a sexy bright blue with a touch of black latin style dress with enough leg (wasn't doing the whole princess ballgown tiara thing) and went with my best friend who also happened to be a prettyboy. The food was bad (man the main was like 1/2 a COW!) and the music was pretty bad too (the luuurve shack) but the night was fun. Quite anti-climatic though. Go with somebody you know and get along with cuz you dont want to end up like my little sister- $1000 dress, $300 shoes, hair, makeup and she refuses to look at the photo's because she now hates the guy! Oh we didnt take a limo- we went in the guys dads benz 4wd which was nice! oh and take a LOT of pics. A guy proposed to his gf at our formal- very very very cute!

Ruru has made some good points there. I've always found the events prior to and after the formal that much better than the formals themselves. In their defence though, they're times that won't come around often so you gotta enjoy them.

I've driven and been driven in standard cars, had a party bus (oh dear), and have had the limo. Take the limo.

I gotta second the limo, or a town car like a nice old Rolls Royce.

hummers are cool- i've just put a deposit on one getting delivered in july. basically take whichever car makes you feel special! my friend showed up in her bf's dads porsche and must admit- looked very very cool! limo's are great too! the only reason we didnt take one was 1)6 school formals that night made the prices ridiculous! 2)the benz was brand new and pretty and 3)the girl who booked our limo messed it up!

I went to 4 formals across 2 years (2001-2002) and always just took my car, but it was fun. The Rolls is a great idea.

I'd go for a vintage Rolls Royce, the ooze class and sophistication which you'll be proud of when looking back.

i bought it from morrisey, its a 'rara' dress so its all ruffles and its silver ( that sparkly material).. one big layer of ruffle is along the shoulder line and its soff one shoulder, its very 'flapper' dress style, i am wearing black heels, a black embellished clutch and possibly one of those embelished headbands in the other thread, oh and sum black beads ofcourse( or a different necklace of some sort)... my date is wering black suite pants, black shirt, white suspenders, white hat and black ribbon around, possibly with a feather :) im reely looking foward to it, we wanted to come in a horse and carriage but that wouldn't work at a toorak reception so we went for the royce instead... please feel free to add ideas to my plan as i have not yet purchased any accesories.. just the silver dress for now :)

- need to know hot do do my hair and makeup! im thinking teased and curled, like elegant bed hair, bridget bardot style?
- and sultry makeup.. natural but nice eyes and maybe red lips?

I am doing a friends daughters make up this friday for her ball...will post pix when the photographer distributes the pix! Can't wait.
