When it comes to hats, we think of ourselves as fairly open-minded. Fedoras, berets, wide-brimmed floppy or straw hats for the beach - all of these are acceptable and reasonably options.

But what about the top hat? US Weekly has a photo story showcasing celebs wearing tall hats, including Sienna in a black velvet number, and Mary-Kate sporting a satin topper.

We've always thought of top hats as reserved for Abraham Lincoln and the little dude on the Monopoly box.

Is this a trend that is so cool and visionary that we can't even fathom it yet, or is the frenzied last hurrah of the hat; an apocalyptic celebration of its imminent demise?

I love Tophats for their gentlemanly quality... But Mary-Kate looks like she's about to do a magic show. Sienna pulls it off better.

I've been wearing mini tophats for years. I think they are cute and can add something a little kooky to an outfit, but I don't see them becoming mainstream accessories.

Mary Kate looks like she got pulled out of the hat...and drugged at the same time. Personally, no 'cos hats don't suit me :S
