how bad are they? i used to have the worst skin EVER! ask your doctor to refer you to a dermatologist and they willbe able to help you. if they are not all that bad, use only oil free products (this means you have to read the ingredients list- just because somethign says its oil free does not mean it is!- glycerin, glycol, etc are all oils!) i used neutrogena for a long time, and now use clinique products. i have also been on every tablet known to man, roaccutane (aka medicine from HELL) ended up curing me, but i was an extreme case (i looked like a walkign super supreme pizza!). Sometimes the pill helps (didnt work for me) a couple of other things, you cannot get rid of pimples if you have a fringe that hangs down on your face- the oil from your hair will cause them, and once you get one, the hair will transfer the bacteria to new sites. dont touch your skin- sounds weird but the more you touch, the more bacteria etc. chocolate does not cause pimples- trust me, i'm a chocoholic who gave it up for 6 months- and still had them! pro-active apparently works, so long as you stay on it, so i'm not sure if its a cure- i never used it! oh, and if you get a big nasty one and you want to zap it, put some toothpaste on it the night before (not a gel based toothpaste tho- they dotn dry and it will end up everywhere) and when you wake up in the morning, the pimple will be considerably smaller! but seriously, if its driving you insane, see a dermatologist, they see them all the time, can tell what type of pimples you have, and will be albe to tell you the best way to attack them.

kaz, because it has horrible side effects. a few that i experienced hair loss (it was falling out of my head like crazy), dry skin (i woke up a few times with a scaly face and refused to leave the house, not to mention the constant cracked lips and having to apply moisturiser every few hours), photosensitivity (could not go out int he sun. period. burnt like crazy), my skin would break if you touched me- it was very weak- which also meant no waxing because it would rip the skin off. Add to that serious anger and depression (kids have killed themselves on it), sore eyes (dry) and the blood tests every month or 2, and i had 10 months of hell. roaccutane is a synthetic chemical very similar to vitamin a, which means you cannot take any multi-vitamins (or vitamins of any type) while on it, or you will overdose- hypervitaminosis i think its called. and it can cause internal organ issues as well apparently.
basically, unless you really really n eed it, dont touch it!

your parents are so right. try doing a google search on roaccutane and its side effects. It can only be prescribed by a dermatologist, or when i went on it that was the case, and they will generally tell you whats the best for your skin anyway... oh and have a look at this:

Whilst on ROACCUTANE:
· Do not squeeze pimples.
· Do not remove scaly skin.
· Do not have facials.
· Do not have waxes.
· Do not use acne creams or soaps.
· Do not have body piercing as this may cause infection.
· Do not have electrolysis.
· Do not use hair colouring containing peroxide, perm or use hair rollers. (If you do have a perm, make sure to organise this at least 2 weeks before starting treatment.)
· Do not use solariums.
· Do not take overly hot showers.

from a random doctors website :P not fun for the 10 months i was on!

Is roaccutane not the product that can lead to suicide?
