It would seem that GHD are the leaders - but I've heard some bad stories lately. What has your experience of GHD been like? Has anyone used any of the other brands? Which product would you recommend?

I've got the easy-curl GHD. I use it for curling rather than straightening.. I like it :)

I use just a standard GHD straightener for curling... it works so much better than anything else i've ever tried to curl with! I haven't tried the 'easy curl' Jaci mentioned but I'd like to! I haven't tried any other brands, but GHD has definitely served me well.

i have a GHD and i love it but yes, I have had a bad experience (as have some of my friends) of it suddenly just dying one day (1 year warranty- died 3 weeks after that!) and it pissed me off because ihad to dish out another $300 for it. I have used other brands but nothing has really got my hair done as well and my hair doesnt remain straight for as long *shrug*

Looks like they have a 2 year warranty now, ruru.

A friend of mine has been through 4 in two years. I have also heard stories of them catching fire. Hmmm...

i dont think its manufactured all that strongly. my sister actually stepped on it by accident and it broke. true story! don't ask y it was on the bedroom floor! i grounded her from my stuff for a month!! & i haven't bothered with another straightener. been straghtenerless for about over a year! i do like the soft curls that is achievable with the ghd actually. but i think hair straighteners are over rated. i think a range of brushes and a good hair dryer is so much better. & its important to work with your natural hair too.
