Hair for Asian Men (Help! Help!)

Hi Fashionisers!

I just wanted to ask for some advice and feedback in regards to Asian men's hair styles.

I've been growing my hair so I can do a makeover. My current hair type is asian, strong, thick but controllable. I'm aiming for a light and softened look extremely similar to this photo:

My question is what type of maintenance would be involved in keeping this style?
And what would hair dressers usually do to my hair to achieve this look? (What do I ask for?)

A few methods have crossed my mind; using the ghd/ceramic straightener swipes, smoothing serum or smoothing balm with the blow dryer have crossed my mine, but I'm unsure which method would best keep this style. Currently I am using smoothing balm and the heated blow dryer to soften my hair (which seem to work for now as I have shorter hair).

I'm not hair savvy so any advice and suggestions would be most appreciated. =)

I'd be going to Rakis on Collins Street for this one; ask him up front if he / they can achieve it and how - I've had him refer me to other hair stylists in the city if he thought they had access to a product that would be better suited before now.

oooh i like it...but yes, a decent hairdresser will give you an honest opinion and should show you how to style it too
