OK I dont know if this has been mentioned..but I just heard a teensy rumour that hermes is gunna have a 7% price increase this week =O anyone heard this too?

So that means twillies will be $214 by then. its a strip of friggin silk. lol
It's more then likely, as we'll see prices rising on all luxury goods this year as the Australian dollar has lost a lot of ground, not to mention all the other exciting things going in the world.

Chanel have already done their price rise. Ralph Lauren's will be in 2010.
I find it really amusing that in tough economic times companies are trying to protect their margin, as opposed to realising that both they and the consumer have to feel a little bit of pain in order for things to keep ticking over. I suspect that's why e-commerce may win this round.

i'm with daniel- the entire retail industry is crying due to decreased demand and sales, and so they put prices UP? Maybe I missed something while doing that economics major...
on the bright side, they will have to discount more to move stock- so possibly more sales :P

That is a good point ruru: look forwards to mega sales over the next few years. I was recently privy to an internal e-mail from a major retailer stating that they expected most majors to continue with sales and promos for 6 to 12 months.
