hey guys and gals,

im off to hong kong for 12 days of debauchery..woot..long overdue. id like to check out some fabrics over there and shanghai. anyone know where to start looking? can i simply pack them in a cardboard box, tape em up and bring them back home or is it more complicated than that? lets say i find fabrics that i like and get the sellers contact, any info and tips on going about importing here later on when im back.

anything thats a must or must not to see/eat/do in hk?

cheers.

I can't help you directly with Hong Kong, but having done something similar bringing product back from Europe I can say yes, it's basically as simple as putting it in a box. You'll have to declare it when you come back to Australia, so be sure to list them as worthless business samples (or something you took with you).

i think august is good time to go, more sun less rain. hopefully the sales are still on, wouldnt have a clue but will have some friends that are locals to rock with, hopefully showing us some of the hidden secrets of hk that only the locals know. botique browsing will be fun, hopefuly its as cool at the "mouse trap" in milan.

thanks for the tip on declaring stuff.

I'm going to Hong Kong for a few days on the way back from Europe at the end of July. I've had a scout around on the net, and apparently there is the big Hong Kong Shopping Festival on from July-August. http://www.discoverhongkong.com/hksf/eng/overview/overview_introduction_2007.jsp
Not sure exactly what it's all about, but it could be really good. When are you off to Hong Kong?
