You only have to look at Kate Moss to see how cool bed hair can look. Amazingly, even Jennifer Lopez can pull off the look, though she and Moss are clearly not in the same league.

To help you get the best possible bed hair, we've stayed in bed as much as possible over the past week (all in the name of fashion of course). And what did we learn from our sleeping around? That there are far easier ways to get bed hair without spending a few hours rolling around in the sack.

To help us in our quest, we turned to many of the fashionisers working within the industry for their tips and secrets, and thanks to an overwhelming response we've received many fantastic suggestions. So what to do with them all? Well if you've subscribed to Fashionising's newsletter you'd know we're now starting Seven Days of Bed Hair.

Today's Tips - Day One

* Wash your hair out with shampoo but don't condition.
* Dry it, then add some volume using a good hair spray.
* Don't over-brush it.
* Apply thick hair wax near the scalp.

If this method doesn't hold for you try;

* Not washing it for two days.
* Blow wave
* Tease
* Apply hair spray.

Thanks to Merton and Yokie for their suggestions. Merton is a freelance make-up and body artist based in Melbourne. Yokie works for Giorgio Armani cosmetics.

Product To Try

For the perfect hair spray for your messy bed hair look, Sarah J, a self confessed queen of bed hair, recommends Paul Mitchell's Freeze and Shine Super Spray.

Another product that works great for bed hair is 'Slept In' by Sexy Hair Concepts, part of their ShortSexyHair line. It gives you a second-day (slept-in) look while it conditions and texturizes your hair. I've used it for some time now, and it's a great product â it's very light and keeps your hair incredibly well conditioned.

Yesterday we began part one of our feature on getting the perfect bed hair, today we continue with Seven Days of Bed Hair.

Today's Tips - Day Two - Bleached Hair

Today's tips from from Sara Divine, a resident fashioniser and a professional make-up artist from Ontario, Canada.

Sara reminds us that the damage due to bleach actually helps with the tousled bedhead look, bleach is also great for people who have thin hair because the damage makes the hair appear thicker.

Of course, it's really a pay-off and you have to work out what's more important to you. However, Sara tells us that waking up with messy bed hair naturally, or using a a thousand styling products until the hair looks dirty and dishevelled, are both poor choices.

The best way? Realise that brushes are the enemy and;
* Use less or no conditioner
* Towel dry
* Spritz with 1 part sea salt and 2 parts water
* For more volume, use volumising hairspray and scrunch the roots

However she says not to use too much product, and only use your fingers to move the hair. Also, the longer the hair, the harder it will be to get serious volume and a tousled look.

In day three of our series looking at tips and tricks for getting perfect bed hair we turn to the boho look often sported by the likes of Kate Moss and Sienna Miller.

Sienna Miller, seen here with ex Jude Law, is known for her boho style and always gets away with relaxed messy hair

We've previously looked at bed hair for bleached blondes and a few general styling tips.

Today's, however, come from Jen; a Melbourne make-up artist and resident fashioniser who has done make-up artistry for short films, television, magazine shoots, and weddings. Thanks Jen!

Today's Tips - Day 3 - The Boho Look

To create a natural, bohemian style look, your hair needs to be clean, slightly damp, and unbrushed. The best time to create this look is after a shower or bath so that your hair dries and sits naturally.

Flip your hair upside down and apply a generous amount of volumising mousse, such as Scharzkopf Maximum Hold or TRESemme Extra Control, from scalp to tip.

Flip your hair back again and let it part naturally as you gently scrunch and lift around the crown of the head and the ends of the hair.

Use a teasing comb to quickly back comb the entire head. Remember: bed hair is a natural and effortless look, so it doesn't have to be perfect.

Lastly, spray your hair with a hairspray such as Sunsilk's Flexible Hold or Garnier's Fructis Full Control. Again, the bed hair look is supposed to be loose and relaxed, so only a small amount of hairspray is required.

It'll come as no surprise to you, but if you've been following our Seven Days of Bed Hair tips you'll be left in no doubt that perfect bed hair requires a lot of work. Bleach, blow drying, products, sprays and mouses are all being used. So how do you make sure that your hair doesn't get damaged in the process?

Day 4 - Protecting your Bed Hair
Well our next and very useful suggestion comes from Smash Potato - a talented make-up artist from Sydney.

She says that the best way to get the perfect bed hair is to do as follows:

* Clean your hair with shampoo
* Straighten or blow dried hair
* However make sure you use a heat protector and a shine spray

PPS heat protector and Bed Heads heat protector are the recommended brands because they both smell amazing. Further touching up can be done with spraying the roots of your hair with a beach spray such as Wella salt spritz.

Let your hair dry in the sunshine then either scrunch or tease bits of your hair and leave some combed out.

However she does warn that everyone's hair is different and may be altered by dyed or chemically straightened, so test run a few products first.

Today's suggestion in our Seven Days of Bed Hair series comes from Vanessa, a make-up artist and fashion designer from Canada.

Day 5 - Get bed hair by blow drying
Vanessa tells us she has done this look numerous times, and you donât need any hairstyling products - just a blow dryer.

The steps are as follows;
* Shower and blow dry your hair until it's almost dry
* Then clip the top of your hair with a piranha teeth clip
* Sleep with the clip on and the following morning you will see a glamorous hair

She warns however that you will get a lot of volume on top or your head so you may need to adjust accordingly in the morning.

Bonus Tip - Adding Product

Leanne, a make-up artist from Perth, also uses a hair dryer and L'Oreal Tecni.Art texture spray. Use the spray while blow drying your already styled hair to get a messy look.

Thanks to Kelli who has put together the tips for the latest part of our Seven Days of Bed Hair series. Reflecting what we've been after in the series, today's tips are in stark contrast to yesterdays product free instructions.

Day 6 - Lots of products

Using one day old hair:
* Add volumising or sculpting products such as Wired or Gutsy by Rusk when the hair is still wet. Kelli believes that these products are amongst the best out there
* Blow dry her hair upside down
* Flip your head up
* Take a round brush to the roots with the blowdryer to get the volume
* The whole time blow-drying it messy
* You can also use an iron to add some curl

Then take "Being Undressed" by Rusk to add texture and shine, blow dry it cool once again and then tease. For hold Kelli swears by Aveda Firmata firm hold hair spray.

Our seven days of bed hair has seen a lot of variation - who knew there were that many different ways to get a tailored messy look, few of which actually involved hitting the sack!

So lets wrap up our seven days of bed hair -
Day 1 we looked at how to get Kate Moss' shag
Day 2 we gave advice to bleached blondes
Day 3 we showed you how to get bed hair the bohemian way just like Sienna
Day 4 we looked you at hair protection techniques
Day 5 we went through blow drying
Day 6 we went product free

Day 7 - Attack your hair

There are so many ways to mess up your hair, here are some suggestions from our resident makeup artists -

Catherine suggests teasing hair, then hairspray, teasing hair, then hairspray etc until the whole head is complete.

So Glamorous suggests taking the palm of your hand, placing it on the back of your head and turning it into small circles to tease the hair.

Phoebe also says to backcomb and tease the whole head, using products like rootlifter for bigger hair.

Carly suggests scrunching the hair for the bedhead look.

We hope this helps, now there are no excuses not to have the perfect bed hair!

Thank you

A big thank you to everyone in the industry who helped us with the series, and for the huge response that we received.
