I started going to Ibiza in 1990,when it was still in it`s early days.
It was awesome with just a few of us (poms) and all the locals used to enjoy each others company carrying on the rave scene which is what i grew up with in the UK.The place started getting a bit too much mid 90`s when all the big promoters started to jump on the bandwagon of cash bringing with it really cheap holidays for really young people who`s main aim in life was to get drunk and get laid,a far cry from all the hardcore music fans.
Today, yes i boasts the bigest clubs in the world and they are great with an awesome line up of Dj`s but one thing i would recommend to women thinking of following the club scene is to GO IN GROUPS where ever you go as there are ALOT of groups of guy`s/bucks parties etc etc. As a whole the Island is beautiful on the north/west of the island where it boasts some of the most beautiful beaches around and the locals are very friendly :)
I went there last year. I am a 'pom' and it was a shit hole to be honest. The island itself is ok but it is the sort of place that gives us brits a bad name. All piss heads and fights. I stayed in a hotel in San Antonio. At night everyone is walking the streets drunk. IF you want easy sex and drugs then ok, thats the place to go. I know a DJ that works there in the season and he said that taking drugs in some of the clubs was as common as geting a drink.
It is pretty cheap there and loads of places to eat out. I found a great Chinese place and an American diner.
There are some good seafood places too, but watch out for the crabs if you know what i mean!!!
Amnesia, Bora Bora and DC10 have been temporarily closed by the island authorities for drug and other problems. See my earlier post for my general views..
