So, Im feeling very insecure about my internship. I have been given a fair amount of opportunities but I really dont know which to take. I don't like the idea of working in an atelier, yet Id love to gain valuable knowledge from experienced designers.

I have always wanted to work in a magazine, but I feel my experience is not much there. Anyone has any suggestions? I'm in my senior year and this internship is a must to graduate. I guess I am just unsure about my career opportunities mostly since I currently reside in a small country.

Maybe if you guys could share your own experiences, how you got to where you work right now, did you ever share this insecurities, etc that could be helpful :)

Zei, to be honest I wouldn't stress too much about finding the perfect internship. The truth of the matter is, your internship will not in anyway, shape or form derail you from the path, which you are meant to take.

As you get older, you will have a more defined sense of what it is that you want personally and professionally. But you can only establish that through trial and error.

So, my advice is to take an internship that is of interest to you. And it sounds like you have a few interests - so just pick one for now. If anything, that experience will teach you whether or not that particular industry or platform is right for you. If it is, great you will have more clarity and can continue to work toward that goal. If not, you just knock it off the list.

Forget magazines, print is dying and most of them will disappears disappear in the not too distant future. Ateliers will always exist, and from such a position you'll still learn the ins and outs of this industry.

hey guys.. thanks for the advice! living in a small country with not as many job opportunities for my major: I know so many friends that have graduated and find it extremely hard to find a job here. An internship is usually a good opportunity here.. if you do well u might get a job offer.

I had never thought about magazines in that manner.. considering most of them are small local/regional magazines.. you have a point
