Greetings,
I'm an aspiring novelist who has some questions on the technical terms for types of clothing that are ancient or exotic in origin.
What I have in mind specifically is an article that can be seen in the below hyperlinks:
http://media.giantbomb.com/uploads/3/31815/964430-metatron_large.jpg

In case it's unclear, I'm referring to the parted sash/skirt thing-y that they're all wearing. In the first, it appears to be a sort of loincloth with two strips of cloth attached to a belt, covering the front and back. Similar characters are shown also with strips of fabric at each side as well. Though the first two have the strip continuing up over the torso, the third does not.
So my question is, is there a more concise word or phrase that I could use to describe this type of extremely impractical clothing?
Thanks in advance.
