Jersey: Fashion must or fashion bust?

Granted that jersey can be a most lovely fabric with a dramatic heavy drape, and almost dreamy waterlike flow, is it really the best style of fabric to have flooded the market the way it has?

It's prevalance seems to have gotten to the point that most mainstream stores feature it as their primary fabric choice.

I've seen some nice takes on jersey recently, all in a casual style but done with a much better weave than I seem to remember last time it was commonly available.

Here in the magical land of Aus. it isn't fringe fashion unfortunately, it's mainstream fabric useage, particularly in the current trend of tops.

It would be nice seeing it used with better cuts and heavier grades of jersey. The primary one I've noticed when out and about is thin enough with enough drape that it clings to the wrong places...
