Hello hello everyone at Fashionising!

Please! I need some advice if you wouldnt mind!!!?

After my MPH Zeroseven work is finished I want to start following my dream and passion. I was just wondering if anyone could possibly give me some advice about how to go about sourcing out and landing a job in the fashion department of a glossy magazine. (Yen, Oyster, Russh, Vouge. something edgy not crap!)

Any info that anyone can provide would be amazing!

Hope everyone is having a fantastic weekend,
much love xox

send in a resume? find out who the person in charge is and accidentally bump into them at a swanky club and charm them with your charm :p

Drop me a line in a few days Corrine, I know I know someone who was offered a position in one of the glossies in Sydney. I just have to wrack my brain as to who it is (long, brain draining day).

hehe thanks guys! i was thinking maybe doing work experience? i just need one that is run out of melb or bris... dont want to move to syd. I do realise this is going to cause an issue because a majority of them are run out of syd... so I guess if an opportunity came up I would definitly have to think about it. Hmmm... food for thought hey!

Oyster and Yen both say on there website and myspace that they want people to 'contribute' to there magazine. What does this mean? Is this a way to get people to work for free? Would it be worthwhile as a break into this particular area of the industry, or do you think I could get stooged and end up with nothing to show??

Just food for thoughts... things that are running through my head at the moment!

it usually is

pay close attention to their terms and conditions. often in submitting work to them you might be surrendering the rights to your work, other times they post your work as having an unlimited license to use it... BUT they make you the butt of any legal action taken on

just remember that the "terms and conditions" and "agreements" are legally contracts and will be viewed as such in the courts should it end up there.

do your reading and know under what terms you're accepting

I'm really not sure.

I've never done the conventional hunt for work in my life.
