At Rosemount Australia Fashion Week 2007, renowned hair-stylist Kevin Murphy used his magic touch on the model's hair to create a range of looks. We got the rundown from Kevin on how he achieved these looks - along with some tips on how you can recreate the styles for yourself.
According to Kevin, the inspiration for the hair at the Nevenka show was "bouffant ballet, girly and gorgeous styles that wouldn't be out of place at a Summer picnic at hanging rock". To get this look, Kevin started with dry hair and applied some HAIR.RESORT to give maximum body and hold with a sexy, weightless feel. He then teased the roots with a brush, pulled the hair into a ponytail, twisted the pony tail up and secured with a bobby. The final touch was to tie a beautiful pink ribbon around the crown of the head, with the bow positioned on the side.
Cybele demanded a soft, pretty look... a little bit Virgin Suicides and a little bit 'fallen out prom do'. To get the look, Kevin Murphy applied HAIR.RESORT to damp hair, dried it in and set the girls' hair in big hot rollers. The hair was teased slightly and brushed out, then parted to the side with a little more HAIR.RESORT applied to control flyaways.
Nicholas X Morley, the new line from Buddhist Punk co-founder and fellow Fashioniser Nick Morley, was colourful, bold and very rock n' roll. In his life with Buddhist Punk, the hairdresser-turned-fashion designer dressed rock's finest, including the Rolling Stones, Blondie and AC/DC. The surf-rock vibe of the Nicholas X Morley label inspired Hair Director Kevin Murphy to create a "night-time beach look". Kevin Murphy used his signature styling product, HAIR.RESORT but applied it to dry hair, rather than damp hair, so it had more natural texture. This look is very easy to recreate in-salon or at home: Kevin took about one minute per model!
