Pyjama and night-ware designer Peter Alexander held his 20 year retrospective yesterday with a fashion show held as a part of the L'Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival. Like many of the other shows held as a part of the festival it certainly was a 'spectacular' with dancing sets and gorgeous models aplenty.
Alexander has certainly managed to change the pyjama industry in Australia, and it isn't out of the ordinary to find a girl wearing his pieces as day wear such is their quality. This season's collection similarly won't disappoint. Look our for tartan pieces, a trend we also saw on the catwalk of Victoria's Secret, and long Winter night-ware.
hmm i have already bought a few smock dresses, knit dresses, stocked up on the headbands and opaure tights.. seems i shall not be very original this winter.. my must have though is a cute fitted trench coat which can be worn as a dress with tights.. hmm, the shows look good so far.. anyone been to any?
By far one of the spectaculars of L'Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival, and certainly not a fashion show in the traditional sense, we now have photos from the Esprit 'skywalk' event in the Fashion Diary.
The sad thing is, Esprit managed to use some of the worst clothes from the current range, while their better clothes adorned the windows of their shop only a few metres away.
Willow - Kit Willow has a distinct style that is difficult to describe, but for the most part it involves equal parts of simplicity and attention to detail; and almost always results in a look that is sexy without being obvious. On the runway at LMFF 2007 Willow stuck to that distinct style meaning fans won't have been disappointed. Pretty dresses ruled the show, with a gorgeous white dress with silver detailing a definite highlight.
TL Wood - The colour palette didn't stray too far from grey and black in the TL Wood collection. Despite its safety, however, there were some pretty pieces that will doubtless make for simple yet pretty winter wear.
Fleur Wood - Pretty. If you asked for a one-word description of Fleur Wood's collection, that's the response you'd get. Pretty fabrics with feminine detail, at times shunning the mini-dress trend in favour of knee-length hems. Black and white were the colours of choice in this delicate set of garments.
Martin Grant - Houndstooth, ruffles and florals all made an appearance in this show. Grant's dresses were elegant and classic, and his bell-sleeved coats looked cosy and carried an elegance of their own.
