Pop-up show - QV

There were a few beautiful Marilyn-esque moments on the catwalk on Wednesday, and for any snapper quick enough to catch them they were there for the taking. But those moments were rare, and for the most part the models were battling it out against gale-force winds in what was not an easy task. Floaty dresses and free-flowing hair gave the wind ample of opportunity to cause mischief. For the most part the models managed to keep their cool and carry on.

Wayne Cooper, Christensen Copenhagen, Third Millennium and Cactus Jam were some of the stores whose wares were on parade.

Richard Nylon - L'Oreal Paris Runway 6.

Eccentric milliner Richard Nylon certainly didn't play it safe with his bold and beautiful collection of head pieces. Seemingly inspired by all things from the depths of winter, the collection conjured images of mythical ice-queens and snow palaces with its icicle-like spikes, feathers and glittering meshes.

Each year at L'Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival one upcoming designer is recognised and awarded for their work. The award was presented by Tiffany & Co again this year, with a $10,000 cheque and a commemorative Tiffany & Co. trophy going to the winner.

The finalists for this year were:

ALPHA 60
DHINI
GAIL SORRONDA
LIFE WITH BIRD
ROMANCE WAS BORN and
YEOJIN BAE

It was the talented Yeojin Bae that took out the award for best designer in 2007, her structured coats and pretty dresses well worth the prize. Congratulations to Yeojin.

T.V - Space and futurism were the inspiration behind T.V.'s collection at LMFF last week. Two trends which weaved their way through the week's collections - the shimmering galaxies of stars we've seen on a number of dresses, and the imitation leather leggings that accessorised many a show - were evident here.

What did you think of the T.V collection Tania?

Overall, quite good. Some pieces were a little miss, but you expect that of an entire collection. Their colour palette was well chosen, something very Country Road about it, and the over length scarves and knits very 'now'.

Certainly wasn't keen on the hair the models were sporting, but that's an unfair criticism.

Ahem, I think that question was directed at ME, hence the "What did you think of the T.V collection Tania?" :P Lol...

But anyway... it wasn't one that I immediately fell in love with or was struck by, but that said it was refreshing to see something different (but not too different to the point where it was weird).

There was quite an interesting mix - although the 'futuristic' / space style outfits were what stayed with me as being the theme, there were also some really nice pieces that didn't fit into that category. E.g this checkered dress which I find quite pretty:

Also I might add that I had a look at the clothes on the rack at Alice Euphemia the other day and the fabrics seemed really nice and more wearable up close than they maybe appeared on the runway.
