Spring fashion week fever looms
A NEW season of fashion is set to pounce on Melbourne from next week.
September brings all the colour, frivolity and light of the fashion world, with Motorola Melbourne Spring Fashion Week and the Spring Racing Carnival gearing up for a massive season ahead.
About to start its 13th year, Spring Fashion Week has gone from strength to strength and is the perfect way for the public to get access to runway parades first hand.
More than 120 events will take place across the city from next Monday, including glamorous parades, fashion-in-art exhibitions, etiquette lessons, beauty bars and business seminars.
The highlight events will kick off from Tuesday with intimate salon shows each morning, including baubles from Jan Logan jewellery and Italian tailoring from Dom Bagnato, with the Melbourne Town Hall to host the main runway parades.
The Victoria Racing Club will host its popular annual luncheon at Flemington next Thursday, and Myer will dazzle with its race-wear parade.
Myer will also host free parades spouting out of their Bourke St windows from Wednesday, September 5, with million-dollar face Jennifer Hawkins taking to the catwalk in Wednesday's 11.30am and 12.30pm parades.
Saturday, September 8, is the first day of spring racing at the newly renovated Flemington course with the Decjuba Girls' Day Out race day.
