I agree...8 hrs of sleep at least!
And water is the best free thing...oh & laughter does wonders... :-))))
But seriuosly, check out the maccosmetics.com website...they hv a few ways to do ur eyes.
I think the MOST important trick is to have the right brushes...blending is essential.
Kevin Aucoin is brilliant too!!!! He is gorgeous! and his books reflect it....with loads of tips & tricks.
You shld do a MAC make up course (or the brand u like most) they offer them in store at Myer & are about 2 to 3 hours (after hours usually)...and around $120-$150 and fully redeemable. :-)

The white eyeliner thing makes me look weird. I tried it in Year 10 and ended up looking like a try hard Korean popstar =P Perhaps better for the non Asians among us lol.

I like the wet nailpolish into ice water trick. Dries quickly and is great for summer too =P

Blusher Tips From the Pros

Invest in a proper blusher brush, advises Bobbi Brown. The teeny ones you find in compacts just arent up to the job, and will give visible brush strokes.

Kevyn Aucoin sometimes applies blusher to the cleavage and along the hairline, too. It adds warmth to powder and foundation, making the whole look more realistic and healthy-looking.

Carol Shaw advises applying blush when youre smiling: Add a little blush in that ball of your cheek and bring it back a little towards the bone.

You want to look like the noon sun has hit you on - not under - your cheekbones, believes Mary Greenwell.

Like many make-up artists, Maggie Hunt likes to double-blush, first applying one layer of blush, then powder, then blushing again: It helps the colour stay put.

Shu Uemuras resident make-up artist Andrea says that in summer, older women should avoid powder blusher: It can look dusty. Instead, try rubbing some lipstick into your cheeks, which gives a much more natural result.

Says Kevyn Aucoin: Over-blushing can always be corrected by blending in a little powder.

Mary Greenwell: Blush is the one piece of make-up that youll never have to change. Stick with a blush that adds the right healthy glow and change the colour of eyes and lips.

Top American make-up artist Rex advises using a blusher brush with white bristles, to help you tell if youre overdoing the colour: If your brush suddenly looks too pink, your cheeks will, too.

The Contour Controversy

Should you shape your face using darker powder to disguise chubby cheeks or double chins? Opinions vary. Bobbi Brown thinks its better to play up your good points rather than try to cover up your flaws. But Maggie Hunt, who every year teaches hundreds of women how to make the most of their looks, does believe in contouring: I use a face shaper - a matte brown one - to help minimise double chins, chubby cheeks and high and narrow foreheads. Choose a shade of powder thats just a darker version of your own skin tone and brush it onto the heavy areas. If your forehead is too high, put a soft brown powder around the hairline.

From me: Mix a luminiser though your eye cream. Works a treat.

Oh and if you are pink put peach blush on your apples and if you are more yellow, put pink on the apples. Looks like a fresh in from the cold blush.

Hi guys,

I've just joined so not sure of your forum etiquette...yet. Thought I'd post as I am an International Fashion, Hair and Makeup Stylist. I have just recently returned home from London as I'm about to launch my very own cosmetic line after years of research.

I just read your posts, and if I may offer some advice, You have named some great past and present makeup artists. My 2 cents is this, makeup like everything follows trends, that is not to say that we should all walk around with badly applied lipstick (Geisha look) I saw some 16 year olds running around London streets with it recently...yeah for real!

Rather that advice tends to date very quickly, and make up should be personal. You should definately invest in good brushes- but which brand to go for...well depends largely on what products you purchase as some brushes are designed specifically for that product to achieve the same result everytime.

My quote" its like following a recipe when you are cooking by guessing you get a varied result each time but by measuring you are guaranteed the same end result every time.

I wouldn't take sales assistants adice as gospel...they are always on commission and or on counter targets...FACT. So no matter how nice she is...(and if she is even qualified to advcie you) you're aren't getting unbiased advice. MAC courses are fine but then you are only learning about MAC and redeeming on only MAC products? What if they don't suit you? I'm free to answer any questions on this topic. I could keep writing for hours..

Heaps of great tips here... Millie's point that you should only really do what works well on you is definitely true. I'd love to be able to do the bright red lipstick thing, but I can only really make a mess of it! ;) Whereas on some people it looks great. I do still think it's useful to get tips and tricks from professionals though - I'd like to do a course or something one day to get the techniques more so than the trends; that way you can apply the techniques to what suits you.
