This city is so frustrating. You can help but feel completely and overwhelmingly powerless, given that no amount of public opposition to these things seems to make the slightest amount of difference.

A glass box is precisely what the city needs. After all, while the Dockland's is full of them no one bothers to go down to that wasteland to see them. So bring them up to the top end of town, as the people who have previously enjoyed The Windsor won't want to head down to Burke Street to shop in the abortion of an area that it's becoming. And where will they have left to go to see glass if they don't quickly smother The Windsor in it?

Apparently Melbourne City Council will make about $1.4 million from selling off bits of laneways to Colonial for their retail development.

Complete. Utter. Twats.

Thanks to a last minute change to the heritage listing for Melbournes iconic art deco Myer building, the entire interiors are being gutted with the exception of the mural hall which is to be preserved.

Several frescoes which were previously boarded up were revealed by construction workers this week jackhammered to oblivion.

The art noveau staircases and frescoes throughout the interiors will be forever lost and modernised. Apparently the old columns have to go to pump more consumers through the building.

Apparently according to Heritage Victoria, so long as you take photos (presumably they did) its ok and thanks for the memories !

Apparently part of Lonsdale House is going to become an Apple Store based on the concepts.

A group has been formed to try and save Lonsdale House, or at the very least bring it to people's attention so that hopefully in future Melbourne's heritage is better looked after :)

The website is http://www.savelonsdalehouse.com/ if anyone wants to check it out
