Men's A/W Trends - Bright Splashes of Colour

How do you make menswear bright and interesting, without overdoing it? A number of designers found the solution for their Autumn / Winter collections: add a splash of colour.

Duckie Brown added gloves in electric colours to their classic tailored suits; while Dries Van Noten had some sunny yellow lining peeping out from winter coats.

Michael Kors, Duckie Brown and Dries Van Noten brighten up their men's outfits with splashes of bold, bright colours.

What do you think of this trend?

I like the gloves, I saw some pretty awesome ones the other day, but I wasn't sure which colour to get :S

Though I think this trend might be short lived.

I'm not too keen on this at all, it feels like it's done solely for the sake of doing it. Of the given examples, only one really 'works' for me, and that's the yellow scarf.

I agree that the yellow is scarf working. The glove-wearers look ready to deliver the keynote at a mime convention.

Agreed, with both dpd and James Vincent.

Though if this trend spreads into other designers' work, perhaps we might see a better, subtler (or just more 'together') variety of this trend?

i think the gloves look ridiculous. they look like they are about to do the washing up.

This makes far more sense to me glove wise:

Yeah I have to agree - the bright gloves are too much, the grey is better. I like the yellow scarf though. I think Cole has a point - there is probably a subtler, smarter way to make this trend work.

Ok I should probably qualify my statement, I like the bright gloves but I definitely won't be pairing them with a suit any time soon.

EDIT: I like the jumper one from PS :)
