This may be late coming, but you could set aside some time and try opshops or risk ebay. There can be some rare gems in there and you could get away with paying under $100 for the suit. Then just find a good tailor and dry cleaner and have the thing altered and cleaned. Although I'm guessing you'd be something like a 37-39 collar, 28-30 waist, so it may be even harder to find something that fits close enough to allow alteration, unless you find a really good tailor (Thanks for the tip on the tailor Daniel, I'm thinking of taking in another suit and those tartan trousers now. That woman does wonders)
One advantage is if you find a suit in good condition after you have it altered you have a unique suit. If you go for this option, aim for solid colours, they are much easier to retailor to fit than a suit with a pinstripe or such as the tailor doesn't have to worry about matching the patterns.
