So who here has a mentor for their business?

I think I'm at the stage where I now need an industry mentor to further my business. Does anyone have one and are they working hard for the money...ie actually furthering your business through networks/contacts and advice?

I had a casual free mentor that was visiting me on a quarterly basis last year but I didnt find that particular person usefull, was out of the industry loop and didnt really provide any industry advice and contacts.

Can anyone give me advice on who and what to look for in a good mentor. What's the going rate for one? Has anyone approaced an actual designer to become their mentor. Any recommendations? Im located in Melbourne Australia if that helps.

Tough one; I've had mentors outside of the fashion industry but never from within it. Would be interested to know how you go :)

Have you had any luck with this? I too really could do with the support of a fashion mentor / consultant.

Usually most mentors are only limited in what they know, and can only play a key roll in one or two (at most) specialized areas. I for one am a consultant, but rather, offer a different edge being a factory owner. I have an advantage of seeing multiple operations from the inside out, and understand what makes not only the brand tick, but more so the product, and how it is developed from the first step to last, which ultimately will effect your overall brand performance. This is all key as it is in direct relation to your profit/earnings and earinings potential.
