Metallic Heels Trend

Metallics have been a strong trend of late, seen in everything from dresses to bags to belts. Over the past few weeks we've seen a lot of celebrities stepping out in metallic heels, suggesting that the trend is nearing its peak.

Lindsay Lohan; Cameron Diaz wears metallic heels by Sergio Rossi; Victoria Beckham in her Christian Louboutins.

The beauty of this trend is its ability to liven up an outfit which might otherwise be rather dull. It's worth remembering not to overdo the trend though and stick to one or two metallic pieces per outfit. There are plenty of designer versions out there at the moment - ranging from platforms to stillettos to wedges, and in both closed-toe and sandal styles.

Clockwise from left: Christian Louboutin Super Metallic Pumps; Miu Miu Bi-colour Metallic Pumps; Marc Jacobs Perspex Heel Slingbacks; Jimmy Choo Hep Platform Sandals; Marc by Marc Jacobs Metallic Bar Sandals; Marni Wooden Block Pumps. All available at Net-a-Porter.

What's your take on the metallic heels trend, and how long do you think it will last?

I hope you are right Tania & that these shoes stay in style for a long time. Metallic heels add the extra glam touch to any outfit. They can take your outfit from day to night. However if they are paired with tiny, barely there outfits or many other metallic accessories, they can make you look cheap & nasty. Less is more as usual in this trend.

I don't think it's a stayer, but I agree aus_kate, a simple dress, minimal accessories and some 'wow' metallic shoes - loving the Marnis. x

I love the Marni ones too - they're not as classic and wouldn't stay hot for as long, but they're just really striking to look at. I like the zip-up Marc by Marc Jacobs ones too - for the interesting detail!

Can't be sure at this size, but it seems that Kate Middleton is wearing the flatty version of this trend
