Miss Australia wild-card search
If you are a young single Australian woman, aged 18-24, intelligent, articulate and can demonstrate a healthy body image and lifestyle, you are invited to enter the Miss World Australia Wildcard competition. Girls from around the country have been working for one year in their communities and competed in regional and state finals to get this far - and this is your opportunity to go straight through to the Finals!
Miss World is a unique contest and not simply a beauty competition. Contestants must have a healthy body image, a beautiful face, grace, charm, deportment, good personality and ambassadorial qualities. These qualities are expected of a young woman who, if she wins the Miss World Title, is expected to travel the world as a glamorous personality of star quality. Of equal importance, however, is the discipline she possesses. Miss World Australia will be trained to be an Ambassador for Youth, an Ambassador for Trade and as an Ambassador for Charity.
Miss World Australia will be chosen by a selection process based on the following categories:
Beauty with a Purpose
The Miss World organization has raised more than $USD400M since its inception for children's charities globally. Miss World Australia is expected to have demonstrated community service, raised money for her selected charity or volunteered to selflessly serve her community.
Miss World Australia believes in the adage of "a healthy mind, a healthy body". We believe physical fitness to be an important component in a successful and happy life. At state and national level the contestants will compete in a rigorous sports competition. This will be assessed by our team at Levity Health Bondi.
During the judging in the Leisure Wear/Swimsuit competition, the judges will be asked to look for a healthy body, muscle tone, and symmetry of form, posture and other traits that reflect a healthy lifestyle. It will be handled tastefully with the contestant wearing a swimsuit of her choice.
You will be asked to present a short entertaining show-piece highlighting your talent in singing, dance, drama, sport or instrument.
This is an important interview competition. The judges will have allotted time to speak with each contestant individually. During the session, the contestants will be asked to display their commitment to charitable causes and to the Australian title. The remainder of the interview will be an opportunity for the judges to find out more about the delegates' personality, opinions, and knowledge of Australia and the World.
A major function of Miss World Australia will be to handle media interviews, press conferences and other public speaking engagements. The Communication & Commitment segment of the contest will test if a contestant is ready to handle the public and the media.
The winner of Miss World Australia should be able to have heads turn when she walks into a room. People should notice her. The Poise & Presence category will be the evaluation of that quality, something that is unsaid that makes that young woman unique and special. Posture, grace, elegance, carriage and a positive first impression will be the main focus of this event. Contestants must wear evening dress for this segment of the competition.
* Miss World Australia will receive an all-expenses paid trip to Poland to represent Australia at Miss World, the most- watched annual television event in the world. She will be required to be available to travel to Poland in September 2007.
* Extensive preparation in wardrobe, modelling, media training and interview.
* Career and vocational guidance suited to the winner's chosen field of interest.
* The opportunity to travel across Australia as an Ambassador for Trade
* Multiple opportunities to work with children's charities across the country as an Ambassador for Charity
* Opportunities to work with Youth across the country as an Ambassador
* To become a celebrity spokesperson recognized across Australia.
