For many people, the name Audrey Hepburn causes one iconic image to spring to mind: Audrey, as the capricious Holly Golightly, having breakfast at Tiffany's in pearls and a black Givenchy gown.
Now, that very dress that featured in the classic 1961 film is going up for auction. Expected to fetch up to 70,000 pounds, or $130,000 USD, the proceeds of the sale will go to the City of Joy - a charity which helps needy children in Calcutta.
The auction will take place at Christie's on December 5.
So, fancy a little black dress for Christmas? What are your thoughts on the movie and its iconic wardrobe?
As you may have read by now, the little black Givenchy dress sold for 410,000 pounds - much higher than expected!
The thing I found most suprising was that the reindeer jumper worn by Colin Firth in Bridget Jones's Diary sold for 1,080 pounds. Ok, I now it's for charity... but the reindeer jumper...?? :P
