couldnt agree with you guys more. i have an industrial design background and it always amazes me what gets wacked into melbournes cityscape. Ferris wheel...meh! and an average looking one at that from the looks of it. i really like the southern cross station roof, but yeah it is very cold and dull and looks unfinished. they shouldnt have dumped "spencer street station" also.
Now Barcelona...wow, what a place. all those gaudi buildings that blend in, but at the same time stand out, with the modern architecture. Cosy alleyways, and big f*&#-off old buildings and squares. Such a beautiful city. when i was there, the first thought that came to my head was this is what melbourne could be! it was so much like melbourne in atmosphere,people and scenery but on a larger scale. arrrhhh...just thinking about it makes me want to sell everything and buy a one way ticket.
HK has some of the funkiest buildings that i've seen in one small place. And the way they place and use billboard ads is soo cool especially all those dunhill jude law ones.
