I'm travelling to New Zealand, Auckland to be precise, come June for a year (or so my visa allows).
Being that i spent half of 2008 in Spain and the other half in Italy, my closet's pretty much... diverse, as of the moment. I mean, six months on an island (Mallorca) and then 6 months in the mountains in the north of Italy can pretty much render anyone's closet a bit irrational to anyone prying a look into the measly 20kg worth in luggage i drag around.
In any case, New Zealand's coming up on the radar and aside from Karen Walker, i have nothing in mind to justify any shopping i am committed to making for the trip. I mean, what's fashion to a Kiwi?
(I was supposed to go through Sydney before hitting Auckland but i got blindsided by my boyfriend's impatience. I would have loved to see Australia, but i guess that's for the return trip)
Francesca, Francesca, Francesca - what is fashion to a kiwi? I can tell you that it isn't all K-Mart and rugby jerseys, we have a tonne of talented and excting talent this side of the hemisphere.
I would love to help you on you quest to find designer gear to suit your taste and style!
I note from your profile that you prefer vintage or bohemian pieces, would it be better to offer you vintage and thrift stores in Auckland? There are a few I can recommend and I can think of a couple of small & higher end designers that may pique your interest.
Alternatively I can send you here - http://www.bulletmag.net/suppliers.htm
My new website www.designerdirection.co.nz does not as yet have a list of all designers, but the one above has most of our established designers. There are some really great emerging designers or startup/small designers...however I think that list will keep you occupied for some time.
If you have any questions - shoot.
Melody :)
