Since Christmas runs from Dec. 25. to Jan. 6. (officially), I'm hosting a Noelle Masquerade on the 29th as a Post Christmas, Pre New Year's function. It's cocktail attire and masques required but I'm sort of stumping on my decorations...It's in a large modern loft with green stained cement floors and gloss black trim. Any suggestions? and of course if you happen to be in Charleston, SC you're welcome to come by.
It's hard to picture the room without seeing it or knowing more, but for a masquerade I'd be thinking something a bit decadant, like dramatic candelabras - maybe say in black with green candles or for Christmas theming decorated with holly. That's if it's late and dark... in any case I guess it has to be something that suits you and your style. Would love to come along... a tad too far though! :(
I went to a masquerade a few weeks ago and they had the whole candles and candelabra thing happening and it gave an amazing feel to the place. it was quite simple in a huge marquee in the parklands of a large casino- but the candles made it look quite dramatic- they had black and white with gold candelabras and chandeliers- i think.. kind of a bit hard to remember now- too much alcohol flowing!
I like the candle thing ruru but I don't have a good supply of candelabras or a huge budget....but think I'm going to suspend crystals (bought on sale last Christmas) from the ceiling (20 ft above) and use them to lower the ceiling down a bit and give some sparkle...I decide to use black and crystal and throw in some silver and gold...everything neutral since as Mr. Man pointed out there's not many colors that go with the green and black combo that would look strange.
wow, that sounds awesome! Yea I agree- even hiring candelabra's would be quite pricey- had to do that once for a cartier launch party for my old boss (aka stingy old cow) and she nearly killed me when she saw how much they were going to cost! We settled for 1/2 the number of candelabras and dimmed the lights (ugly flourescents) by draping black/gold fabric over the ceiling (and made me spend 4 hours doing it).
I'd love to see pics of the crystals- they sound nice- just make sure no semi drunk masked people knock into them- masks make it hard to see anything!
