Looking for some suggestions on a Melbourne venue which screams 'opulent' for a certain little idea I've had.

Anyone?

ummm? how bout we just combine our wardorbes and see what happens - lol

Try Marais - they often lend their space to exhibitions or what not

Something one can put tables in, and a catwalk.

the red violin is stunning, eurotrash could be interesting upstairs with all the paintings etc and is a large space. that big one on collins st (i have had a blank) i think that is all i know of, i cant remember any names... been quite a while since i was down there partying, but the red violin i know for a fact would look awesome for somthing like that!

SILK ROAD!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is the most opulent and most beautiful venue I have ever seen in Melbourne.

Would be perfect for your fashion parade!

My second choice would probably be the Long Room on Collins St.

But SILK ROAD is just pure OPULENCE! Amazing massive chandaliers...rooms...cute waitresses in kimonos... Check it out if you haven't been xx

I think it's corner Market st and Collins st...

It was indeed - I wonder if they've stepped up their game as everyone is recommending it? Or is Melbourne just starved of good venues?

No it's the one with the really good reviews....

Besides, it's the opulent venue and decor that you want, no? If you are organising an event, it is likely that it'll be a ticketed event - therefore controlling the social circles that come to the event and make up the right atmosphere. Overcoming the issue of an unpreferable crowd. Silk Road is the kind of place where you have to know everybody there to have fun, or come with a group of friends...otherwise it's terribly clicky! The only drawback are overpriced cocktails.

Or would you prefer Bar20 where the bouncers will know how to kick people out
