Hiya

I have been asked to organise a 12 year olds birthday party.

The girl is having around 20 guests and is at the age where she wants to impress her peers. It is in August and the budget is $400-500.

Does anyone have any tips? Any themes, ideas or anything creative that will set her apart from her other friends, which have all had it at private theatrette style venues.

I appreciate your help! :-/

dye we must know her taste, i had a mocktail party wen i was in grade 6... we all get dressed up with a bit of makeup and drank juice in cocktail glasses and then everyone slept over and we gave eachother mini makeovers and had facials etc.. good fun and extremely inexpensive therefore you could make little party bags with lipglosses and stuf.... but she and her frends must be very girly for that sort of thing..

She is a girly girl...I tried to get that info with not much luck. I asked wot her favourite food was and her mother said she is into 'not eating'. Lol...I thought that was too typical.
I am thinking perhaps hire a dance instructor and do a dance lesson then somthing else. But what??
Hmmm...I know a dance studio but does that sound like I am on the right path? I have never had to organise something like this before!

The daughter will decide tonight if a 'dance' lesson will fit her requirements. I am thinking they can do some sort of dance routine to their fav song...knowing a studio owner is easy too! And inexpensive...while prompting the girls to exercise at an early age.
We're definitely opting for the goodies bag. I was thinking:
~lipgloss
~nail varnishes
~magazine
~gift voucher
~perhaps a dvd (wot do u think? any suggestions)
Wot to do after the dance lesson though? Any ideas?
I probably wouldn't want to encourage a mocktail style party as the parents might not be overly excited by the idea...I am sure they're just like my little cousins and get their glass of red at the dinner table but I would like the parents to be responsible for that image.
The mother doesn't want it at home too as she wants someone else to clean up the remains afterwards...
I really do appreciate any input as I have never had to organise such an impressional bunch of little ladies for an event of this calliber! Lol..

thats totally fair enough! a dance lesson would be great, you could deck out the the whole studio with streamers and balloons, and have a bit of a disco going on along with a dance instructor teachig some cool moves. The girls would love it!

Goodness... when I was that little a birthday party was still a birthday party... bowling was the coolest! lol

I asked my sisters (they are the same age) and they said the dance lesson idea sounded really good! They also suggested smoothie making! Get loads of different fruits and let them make their own smoothies! Dunno about the mess afterwards tho but it's certainly healthy!
