It's going to be bloody popular when it opens. And here's the goss:
PRADA's Australian flagship store will open on Collins Street in Melbourne. Though occupying the site since November, they're scheduled for a mid-June opening.
Just found out the architect is Rem Koolhaas. Part of the delay is that he is overseeing the project each step of the way. I saw a sketch of the store earlier in the day. It's nice, but I'm not keen on the way it clashes with the existing building.
Found out some more goss on the PRADA flagship store. It's definitely been delayed, and there isn't any certainty to any of the opening dates being bandied around. July seems likely at this stage, but they lack such confidence with that date that they're yet to even look at which stock they'll have.
And they're still going. I can't believe how difficult the architect is; they've laid a floor, and ripped it back in. A few of the fittings are in there, and the place is crawling with workmen. I think they've discovered that the $500,000 PA lease on the shop eventually has to yield some return and are simply trying to get it finished.
