I have to say one of my favourite photographers is Mario Testino, the guy has consistantly reinvented his style and helped to keep fashion beautiful. In contrast to Newton and Richardson his work is very clean and "studio" as opposed to the more reportage/street style.
I've never been able to get my hands on a compendium of Mario's work, but from what I've seen he has an amazing skill. You're definitely right about the comparison to Newton and Richardson, he still maintains an erotic quality but with the raw feel.
