Does anyone have any tips for post-shaving balms? At present I'm using a L'Oreal product, however, having really sensitive skin it's not always what I need and my skin can stay sensitive for hours on end.

I can't help out with specific products. but witch hazel is said to be good for razor burn, it's an extract from some bush so completely natural.

I've read up about this because I'm in the process of updating my routine

what's your current routine?
do you shave electric? wet/dry?

Anthony makes a great after-shave balm; non-alcoholic, lots of natural extracts and vitamins. I use it, it's great. If your skin is very sensitive, it will tingle a little, but this is because the balm has a topical anesthetic to relieve razor burn.

Here the link if you want to investigate further.... http://www.anthony.com/index.cfm/a/catalog.prodshow/vid/365/catid/206

First of all, I'd recommend brushing up on your shaving technique. Make sure you're using a decent shave cream and a sharp razor. You'll find this will make a big difference.

Anthony Logistics After Shave Balm, Baxter of California After Shave Balm and MenScience Post Shave Repair are three of the best post-shave products on the market at the moment. Of the three, Baxter's product probably takes the cake (it's also marginally cheaper than the other two and lasts a long time). Our customers love it.

shaving technique can have a lot to do with how much rash u get afterwards, as for products, I personally use Tolsom products, they have both a shave creme which is really thick and lasts ages on your face, as well as protecting your skin from rashes, followed by the after shave balm which cools what is affected. The other thing to remember is to not use aftershave lotion or fragrance on shaved skin. And avoid anything that has alcohol in it - it'll sting! :)
