I really want to be a fashion stylist but i just dont know where to start. what qualifications would i need? í live in sydney so if any one can tell me what courses to do or what colleges to attend it would be a great help. Thanks!

I imagine you'd need to have at least some design qualifications under your belt to show your understanding of fashion. Other than that, I have no idea! There are a few fashion colleges in Sydney however, you might be better of calling them and asking them directly what courses they offer and what they recommend you do to get into the field you want.

going to the school of fashion in sydney is a good idea. it is a very difficult industry to get a break in, i have been trying for a long time although i wasn't prepared to move to sydney (that is where all the work is) so you are in the perfect spot. you need to do alot of work experience. contact all the glossy magazines (they are all run out of syd) and apply for free work experience, network network network. contact photography schools and offer to do some styling work for there shoots, etc.

I hope this helps, good luck!

Check out this forum on TFS: http://www.thefashionspot.com/forums/f90/all-about-becoming-fashion-wardrobe-stylist-10408.html
I also want to become a stylist so I found this article. It takes a LONG time to go through it all, but it gives a lot of really good info.

I also came across a couple of styling courses offered in AU.

I don't know if these are any good, but they offer styling courses.
I saw some other ones the other day, but I don't have time to find them. Google fashion stylig courses.

Also, from everything I've been told, you don't really need any training to become a stylist. It's all about networking. But studying anything in fashion, art, and business can be really helpful!
