ICONIC American fashion label Polo Ralph Lauren is to be the official outfitter for the US team at this summer's 2008 Beijing Olympics.

According to Fashion Week Daily , approximately 1,500 athletes will be kitted out by the classic lifestyle brand for the opening and closing ceremonies. They will also be provided with custom-made wardrobes for their time spent off the track.

"We are both thrilled and honoured to join the US Olympic and Paralympic Teams to contribute to the most esteemed sporting event in history. As our athletes take to the world stage they are representing the best of America and we are proud to be part of that," said senior vice president of advertising, marketing and corporate communications for Polo Ralph Lauren.

I think Ralph Lauren Polo is the perfect label for the team. Good for them!

Just wondering who'll be dressing the Australian team, or if they'll just wonder along as is.

Hmmm ... how many are on the team? Hoodies & caps are nice. Some little kangaroos and tape - they'll be all set to go!

You laugh now, but I have no doubt that kangaroos will have a healthy representation on the uniform of the Australian team.

Can't wait to see the RL uniforms - I thought the Tennis ones were very chic.

Can't help but admire the way they've managed to shoot themselves in the foot with this one.

I wish I was in San Francisco to protest... Can't believe Bush is making a big point of going to the opening ceremonies, when the rest of the world is showing some conscience. Well, I guess I can believe it... just can't believe he's the president of the U.S.
