Return to shorts for men?

What will you wear yours with, dpd?

I'll probably mix them up a fair bit. I like to mix my wardrobe around, so you'll find me in jeans and a sports coat one night, and wearing the sports coat as a part of a suit the next day.

I'd certainly go for either of these looks;

Sure...but does it really matter when you're hopping on wave runners or falling off skis?

Yeah, dressing well is all about context. With the featured shorts I'm just glad to see that there's finally a 'smart' option for summer where the baggy / cargo shorts have previously failed.

Obviously not just for men this Summer, the Telegraph has a spread on tailored shorts for women. And here is the associated article.

I will definitely be stocking up on tailored shorts this coming summer.

I'm not as much a fan of uncuffed mid thigh shorts. I find that cuffs are more flattering to the ensemble as a whole; they give it a sense of finish? Knee length definitely not cuffed though, lol.
from the Telegraph article

Shorts can look really smart for the office, but keep them as business-like as possible. Wear them with a crisp, light cotton shirt and a tailored jacket; blazer shapes work particularly well and add a bit of polish.

I'm not sure if shorts would ever work in a conservative law office though. It's a little bit too trendy. To be honest, I'm not entirely sure what kind of office they mean when they talk about the suitability of shorts. I can't see any of my IB, finance or law friends wearing them anytime soon =P

n my office you could get away it, particularly the knee length mens illustration (with matching sports jacket).

It would also depend largely on the position a person worked in. Partner at a law firm would have a lot more trouble pulling it off, while someone further down in the organisation (reception? admin?) mightn't have the same trouble (factoring in corporate culture).

I'd like to work somewhere where the men wore outfits like that. Then again I like suits too.

I've heard tales of law firms where they insist that women all wear skirts which is wildly sexist (what if you don't feel comfortable in skirts?) but having said that, I made a vow never to wear pants in a corporate environment so it doesn't bother me at all. The larger law and banking firms are notorious for their conservative, very corporate dress code. A close friend going into IB was moaning about not being able to wear anything that wasn't a button up shirt (gah the ironing!)

Anyway, OT, so back on, and I think the first outfit on this page is very cute. It's growing on me.

Its kind of why I choose to be a graphic designer, yeah strange I know picking you career based partly on dress code, but I love the fact that I'm allowed to be slightly eccentric with what I choose to wear to work.

Lol, Allan, I think about that too.

My hair's too messy to be a lawyer.

Judge: You're in contempt!

You: What for?

Judge: Your hair!

Lol, dont quite see that happening.

You haven't seen my hair.

My reasoning is:
If I do law, I have to wake up early.
The earlier I wake up, the grumpier I am.
The grumpier I am, the less I care about my hair.
When I wake up, generally my hair looks like it has been very "well" slept in.

Therefore, on that premise, I would have to say it may happen sometime, in the next few years. Keep SMH on the radar =P
