Finally got myself together and went to Ruby Rabbit on Oxford St last night. I've heard mixed things about the place (door staff being selective, bar staff being snobby) and suppose I was feeling plucky enough to test my 'it' vibe.

Last night was their regular Thursday night feature or club so to speak, Rock'n'Roll Motherf*ucker, and I have to admit I had one of the best nights out I have in a while. A suprisingly mixed crowd for a night of the Stones, Zeplin, gunners, Metallica etc plus a live band. All of this for a cover charge of $6, I was impressed!

The Rabbit's usual clientele wafted through the room to head upstairs to De Nom and the exclusive members only area, but no one seemed to mind the other.

Maybe it's just because I went on a rock n roll night but there was no hint of the bad service I've heard about. Definitely going here again.

Yes, I love their site too :)

RR is definitely targeted at a different crowd to Hugo's. I love Hugo's as a venue but both times I have been there I have been dissapointed by their well renowned bitchy staff. I understand there is a standard they have to upkeep in terms of the people they let in, but you would think since you've actually passed the test of being allowed into the venue they would be a bit nicer to you (being a paying customer and all).

I've been considering going back to Hugo's to give it another try but I'm not betting on it being as good a night as RR was.
