The Tom Ford ones to me are a bit tasteless - too blatant and cheap looking.
They're crass and there for shock value. Which works. To me the offensive element depends on the context. If the Tom Ford adverts were placed in a magazine aimed at minors (15 and under say) then I'd find it offensive. But in an adults fashion title, I don't find it in the least bit offensive.

This will probably sound strange but... I don't find the naked man offensive at all, mostly because, well, it's just a natural naked body, he's not doing anything suggestive or sexual.

i agree, the naked man is suggestive. i just find the purfume bottle blocking the bits of the womans vagina far too far... it is for shock value and it does work but i just find it a bit much...

the richardsons pics dont bother me, neither does the boobs one, they are funny... its just the extreme. elle macphersons also doesnt get to me, the ck one i think is a bit tacky but is fine... i dont know - i guess it is just personal opinion and depends on the kind of person you are!

I think the line is between artistic and cheap.

I agree with Daniel; it's about context.

the tom ford one is OTT. i agee with corrine, yes they are artistic and whatever, but is it really necessary? do we need nudity to be persuaded to buy something? when does it stop being art and start being naked people? in a lot of ways, these ads dont even show you the product, they are trying to sell the feeling- wear our clothes and people will want you... but i think its starting to go a bit far. and if my kid came across the tom ford ad i would be mortified!

My opinion - there's a fine line between artistic and porn... I think Tom's crossed it. The difference between art and porn for me is that one looks cheap and the other doesn't. But of course 1) everyone's opinion of what is art is so subjective and 2) the fact that we are talking about these ads means they are doing their job.

This ad has just been banned in Italy, to my mind it's pretty much the least offensive of the series.

To me the sunglasses ad is the only one with any hint of agression. I can see why it would be pulled. The others are somewhere between wannabe sexy, in your face and bland. Though the Tom Ford boobs/ blow up doll type shot made me laugh for the silliness.

Advertising execs that resort to nudity 'sex sells' have no imagination.

There's somthing a little repressed that we are encouraged to believe that nudity/ sex is somehow naughty or wrong. Throw in some religon and you have way to many pregnant teenagers!!
