Shiny / Metallic Leggings - Autumn / Winter 07-08 Trend

For Autumn / Winter 07 - 08 the leggings trend was brought well into the future... forget the plain black cotton! Leggings, tights, pants and boots alike were livened up by shiny metallics and rubbery skin-hugging materials.

From left: Hussein Chalayan, Daryl K, Bruno Pieters and Anna Sui.

The practical way to wear this trend? How about American Apparel's Lamé Leggings in silver or gold. Try dressing them down with plain black; or adding contrasting colours if you're feeling more daring.

i dont mind the shiny/sheer look tights, like the ones in the pic posted above (kiki) but the silver ones.... eeekkkk i dont think that look will catch on at a high street level, its certainly not doing anything for me! i love metallics this season...bags, belts, pumps, but i think this is a step too far! xx

I'm going to have to agree with Miss Ronnie. I like the leggings, and I think they'd be hot in black, but the silver is waaaaay too space agey for me! I don't see those picking up much either.

KiKi those ones are cool! Ok, so I don't really see the silver ones being everyday down-the-street wear. But I do think someone with enough confidence could pull it off - with plain black or plain white, minimal makeup and accessories, and super sexy heels.

Balenciaga featured this particular pair in their S/S 2007 runway collection. They cost more than $100,000 per pair.

Ooh thanks Meowrrr - I prefer this look with heels, actually the chic holding the magazine up does it best, with the t-bar style shoes.
